5-Star Rated Implant Dentists in Surrey

Did you know dental implants are one of the most popular, stable solutions to replace missing teeth?  This could be due to their 98% success rate and the fact that they can last forever!

What are dental implants?

Implants are specifically designed to replicate your existing teeth.

They are permanently affixed to the bone in your jaw using a titanium screw that functions as an artificial root.

Dental implants provide a secure, natural-looking solution to close gaps caused by tooth loss.

We can use dental implants to restore one or more missing teeth, replace entire arches, or provide additional security for other restoration treatments like bridges or dentures.

Fast facts - the truth about implants
  • Dental implants are decay-resistant
  • Implants look like regular teeth as the crowns are constructed from natural ceramic
  • Implant surgery is a well-established, safe procedure with a 98% success rate
  • They can last for many decades and possibly even a lifetime
  • Dental implants require a minimum of 3 months to heal. See stages.
What is surgery like?

As pain is relative, we can easily say the procedure is pain-free and easy, but for some, it can be scary and can hurt. With nervous patients in particular, we find that their past memories of the dentist and their experience can make the procedure feel very daunting – but we’re here and there’s nothing to worry about.

Implant surgery is a standard procedure, and we’re qualified at our implant practice to offer multiple types of sedation from IV sedation to oral sedation. By using sedation dentistry, we can keep you conscious but make you feel so relaxed that you’ll likely have no memory of the procedure, and no memory = no pain.

Dental implant advantages

Not only do implants have cosmetic benefits, but they also encourage the growth and repair of new bone in the jaw, improving the overall condition of your oral health.

When we lose a tooth, the surrounding bone begins to break down. With a dental implant, you can prevent or even reverse the effects of bone loss.

Dental implants are also long-lasting and can be maintained for upwards of 20 years with the correct aftercare.

Dental Impant Surgery:I had my dental implants fitted recently and I am extremely happy with the outcome. Ali and the team have done an amazing job since I lost my 2 front teeth over 6 years ago. I had to wait for the surgery for a long time due to my age and the issues surrounding having implants at a young age.I finally had the surgery 12 weeks ago and had my two new crowns fitted last week. They look absolutely amazing and the whole procedure was way less painful than I ever thought it would be.I would highly recommend getting your implants done at the Gentle Dental Practice, you won't regret it!A massive thank you to everyone at the practice!

Fantastic work on my teeth and I would highly recommend! My teeth turned out better than I had even hoped for. If you are in need of any dental work, you would be doing a great disservice if you didn't speak to this practice first. The staff were extremely friendly, there were text updates and all in all an excellent service from start to finish. If you haven't guessed already, I am thoroughly pleased with The Gentle Dentle. Thank you!

Like many people, I have an immense fear of dentistry, and dentists, due to previous experiences.I had two broken teeth and one that had been treated incorrectly by an NHS dentist. I had been in daily pain for about 18 months, and had been put on a 6 month waiting list by my NHS dentist.I called gentle dental to explain my problem and they offered me a same day appointment. They were kind, compassionate, understanding, patient and validating. I’m not sure anybody ever feels completely comfortable in the chair, but It’s the closest I’ve ever come! The work needed was carried out, all of the staff were kind and welcoming, and it showed me that the dentist doesn’t have to be a dreaded place!Thank you so, so much gentle dental! I will definitely be returning.

Dental Implants - 3 New Teeth - June 2022I had the most professional and pain free experience when getting my new tooth implants at Gentle Dental. Honestly I put it off for some many years because I just didn't want to go through the pain. But my experience was totally the opposite. Ali and the wonderful girls were there every step of the way. All my questions got answered and I was reassured everything would work out well. And it did. I was worried for no reason.I did think about going abroad to have it done but when you consider the risk factor, time and professional standards - it made no sense to me. I have known Ali for a long time and knew I would be in the best hands and if there were any issues these would could be resolved easily. If you are thinking of having dental implants at Gentle - don't waste any more time. Just book and get it done. Was it painful ? No, uncomfortable for a few days, yes for sure.I just wish I had it done sooner. Thanks guys, love my new teeth 🙂

Can't thank this practice enough for all their help. I don't post reviews very often, so when I do, it's because an impression has been left! Dr Ali saw me at short notice to help fix a broken tooth. The nurse (I think her name was Danni) was so helpful and kind, as were the rest of the team. Thank you for being there for me in my hour of need (the same day i asked for an appointment!)

This place was recommended to me by family and for a nervous patient the best experience. The reception welcome is cheerful and friendly, beautifully modern area with hot drinks and water on offer.I needed implants, crowns and bridges followed by whitening, so lots of appointments. My dentist Mr Ali Rafai was superb from start to finish, so professional and personable. Throughout the whole process I was cared for wonderfully plus lots of laughs along the way. The constant care during appointments was very comforting, no rushing, and I knew I my needs were Mr Rafai's priority. Plus check up call the next day without fail to make sure everything was going well.Absolutely deserves five stars!

Fantastic experience with Ali. It took 18 months including bone grafting, removing and replacing failed dental implants, invisaline for my bottom teeth which were all over the place and some veneers but now I'm delighted with the outcome.Ali was always very clear about how this wasn't an overnight solution in an honest and forthright manner which gave me confidence that he would deliver results.I was offered several overnight solutions from other dentists locally at a fraction of the cost but when I see how much effort and detail that went into my plan, I know i made the right choice.

The implant procedure

Patients from all over London and Surrey visit the Gentle Dental practice to receive life-changing restorative implant dentistry that renews their smiles.

The first step of the implant procedure is a general overview of your oral health, including an x-ray and scan of your teeth and jaw.

This determines whether your jaw has sufficient bone density to support an implant. The entire process is often pain-free, feeling no different from tooth extraction.

Some discomfort may be experienced following surgery. However, this is soon alleviated in a few days with over-the-counter medications.

Procedure steps
  • Everything will begin with a consultation, where essential treatment planning will begin using a  CBCT scanner.
  • Your experienced restorative dentist, Dr Ali Rifai, will position the implant into your jaw.
  • The gums and the jaw bone are left to heal safely (osseointegration). This process typically takes three to six months but can be faster for some patients.
  • When the implant is securely in place, the implant dentist will attach a high-quality crown, completing the process and securely holding the new tooth.
Maintenance

If properly cared for, your dental implants can last a lifetime.

Otherwise, dental problems can cause issues with the functioning of our teeth and our self-esteem.

That’s why it is important to look after your implants as best as you can once you have had your procedure.

Aftercare tips

Avoid smoking: smoking can damage your implants the same way it can damage your teeth – it is best to avoid smoking generally in order to reduce the risk of discolouration, gum disease and mouth cancer. During the healing phases, smoking can interrupt the healing process meaning the implant may not fully integrate with the jaw if you continue to smoke in the first few days post-treatment.

Oral hygiene: We recommend caring for your implants the same way you would care for your natural teeth – brushing twice a day, cleaning the narrow gaps and hard to reach places and using mouthwash to eradicate and remaining bacteria that could lead to infection or bad breath.

General maintenance: Our relationship with our patients does not end as soon as the treatment does, we will be happy to continue meeting and offering more advice and check-ups to make sure your dental implants are in top condition. Our hygienists can also carry out professional cleaning of your implants, and they are fully trained in the optimum maintenance of the implants and will help you increase the lifespan of your implants. We recommend meeting our hygienists at least once a year.

Pre-implant procedures

Tooth loss is severe – and if you have ignored gaps for more than six months, you might likely face complications that could interfere with your implant surgery.

The truth is when you lose a tooth, other pressure is added to the surrounding, neighbouring teeth, which have to bear the weight. Because of this, bone loss in the jaw is widespread.

If there is an insufficient amount of bone in your jaw, you will likely need to undergo bone graft surgery – this will ensure that your implant is more secure and prevents the likelihood of it failing.

Will you need a sinus lift?

Sinus lifts or sinus augmentations may also be a necessary additional procedure that will make it easier for us to place implants. Sinus lifts help increase the amount of bone in the upper jaw as it adds more bone to the space between the molars.

Whilst these surgeries may seem unnecessary or scary. We must reassure you that these are often quite basic and straightforward procedures that go hand-in-hand with implant treatments.

Dental implant cost FAQs

How can you save money on implants?

Patients can save money on their dental implant treatment by combining implants with other procedures, for example, implant-retained dentures.

More than this, if patients are experiencing multiple tooth losses, we can only use four implants to replace teeth throughout the entire mouth.

Can you get implants on the NHS?

Implant dentistry is not redeemable via the NHS. They are more likely to prescribe cheaper alternatives like dentures.

Are implants available through insurance?

Whilst you will have to check with your particular provider, insurance typically does not cover the cost of dental implants. However, as dental implants are now more recognised for their durability, insurers are beginning to recognise their quality. More.

Can you finance implants?

Patients can pay for their treatment interest-free for 12 months.
