Beautiful straight white teeth- so nice!” – Judith P, Esher
Our orthodontists are experiencing a huge increase in the number of patients opting for Invisalign.
The clear braces treatment promotes better oral health and hygiene in comparison to traditional braces, which often can cause tartar and plaque buildup.
Your guide to Invisalign
The removable aligners offer patients a discrete process to straighten their teeth that is comfortable and twice as fast as traditional braces.
The process of Invisalign is a simple one, which uses a series of clear aligners that gradually shift your teeth into a straighter position.
The high-grade, transparent aligners have the power to close gaps present between teeth and can correct misaligned teeth to produce a better-improved bite.
The Gentle Dental has seen many patients leave our clinic feeling happy and confident after receiving their treatment. This is because Invisalign is widely known to help improve a patient’s self-confidence because of the fast, discreet journey to the perfect smile.
Also widely accredited for the advantages it can also have on your oral health, Invisalign can improve bites, helping patients to chew and eat better with no restrictions placed on diet.
Step 1: Your bespoke Invisalign treatment plan
Our practice uses the latest technologies and scanning systems to take the most accurate impressions in order to create perfect moulds. Your initial consultation to receive Invisalign will start with a digital 3D scan of your teeth.
This is where we will create a 3D video of your current smile and how it will transform. When the patient is happy with the finished look provided by the scan, the aligners are made and the treatment can begin.
Step 2: Discrete performance
As Invisalign aligners are removable they allow the patient to continue eating what they want and still maintain a high standard of oral hygiene. For adults, they can be removed for special occasions or big meetings.
You will have a series of aligners that will need to be swapped every two weeks or so as the teeth gradually align. Every six to eight weeks you will have check ups with the orthodontist who will ensure that everything is going as planned.
Step 3 – The final result: straight teeth!
Once the treatment is complete you’ll be left with the new smile that was designed for you those few months ago. Some patients at this point whiten their teeth to complete their new smile.
Step 4 – Retainers and Bonding
Now that the teeth are in their correct position, we can look into fixing any minor imperfections in shape, which can be enhanced with cosmetic bonding.
Following the treatment, retainers will be required to be worn during the night to prevent the teeth from relapsing into their original state. Many patients opt for the Vivera retainers that are made with the same technology as Invisalign aligners.
Clear Invisalign braces have four impressive benefits:
- Invisalign is basically invisible, allowing patients the chance to discreetly straighten their teeth
- Invisalign aligners are removable, which makes eating and drinking more comfortable and brushing easier. It also promotes better oral hygiene that strengthens oral health.
- Comfortable to wear. As the braces have no metal brackets or wires the mouth is free from breaks or irritations and requires no adjustment appointments.
- Invisalign uses the latest technology to allow the patient to view their virtual treatment plan results. This will show patients how their teeth will look once the treatment has been completed.
Treatment times can vary from patient to patient. The length of time will depend on the type of orthodontic problem and the severity of the issue. Treatment is often completed within 12 months, with some treatments being completed in four months. The most severe cases can take two years.
Invisalign braces have many benefits, including many advantages of your overall health. By correcting misaligned teeth, you avoid creating abnormal bite patterns, which negatively impact surrounding teeth.
Dental issues connected to misaligned teeth include tooth sensitivity, jaw pain, headaches damaged bone, chips and fractures. The likelihood of later being diagnosed with disorders like gum disease and tooth decay as brushing and interdental cleaning is more difficult to achieve.
As a new and exciting tooth straightening process, Invisalign has become the clear popular choice for many of our patients.
However, please note that Invisalign is not suitable for all patients.
One of our orthodontists will be able to determine if you are a good candidate and if it will be the best solution for correcting your bite and straightening your smile.
Discretion is a big factor for many of our adult patients, so if you are not a viable candidate for Invisalign, we have other discrete methods available.
