• Are veneers available on the NHS? As veneers are used to improve a patient’s appearance, they are considered a cosmetic procedure and will only be provided on the NHS if a clinical need presents itself. However, cases are sporadic and unlikely. See more.
• Do dentists recommend veneers? The treatment enhances the mouth’s aesthetics and promotes strong oral health and hygiene benefits, which will keep the mouth intact and healthy. Porcelain vs composite

Due to advancements in state-of-the-art dental technology, several kinds and types of veneers have emerged.

• Porcelain: Strong, durable and stain-resistant. The only prep work needed is a small scraping of enamel. Often only millimetres are removed to make room for wafer-thin shells. However, other porcelain brands are even less evasive as they require little to no prep work – ask your dentist about Lumineers or Durathin.
• Composite: Immediate, firm and natural-looking. Composite veneers made from resin are sculpted directly to the tooth in layers, meaning no tooth preparation is needed to place them.

How are the veneers placed?

Regular veneer applications may involve the altering of your natural tooth shape.

However, the latest and more preferred versions of veneer applications use a super-thin shell placed over the tooth’s front surface.

The preparation will only remove 0.2mm/0.5mm millimetres of enamel to make room for the veneer – this will prevent it from appearing bulky and ensure the veneer is secure. More.
