Wondering if insurance covers your dental treatment or if we accept it in our practice. You’ll be happy to find out the answer is yes.
Dental treatments covered by insurance
Dental insurance allows patients to access higher-quality practices and treatments without facing the full cost of private dentistry.
The Gentle Dental in East Molesey accepts dental insurance with particular providers. However, you’ll have to check with your provider if we’re listed as a full-cover dentist and which dental treatments are redeemable via your plan. The coverage you’re entitled to will depend on your plan’s policy. However, these tend to include preventative dentistry, emergency treatments and maintenance. Cosmetic treatments are rarely covered, but that said, some plans have started to offer special policies for it.
Check if you're covered
You’re always welcome to email your policy document to us, and we can help to explain if your insurance, whether with BUPA, Cigna, AXA, WPA, Simply Health, etc. is accepted here, and what types of dentistry it covers.
If you already know you’re covered with The Gentle Dental, bring your policy document to the appointment. When it comes to paying, you’ll pay us the dentist, and we will email you a receipt of your treatment, which you can present to your insurer, who can reimburse you.
However, we urge patients to check their policy and with their providers, as the Gentle Dental cannot be held liable for errors.

Insurance for dental health can vary
If you have health insurance, dentistry cover might have been an option when you signed up. Most health insurance policies tend to cover dentistry, preventive measures, and emergencies.
General dentistry treatments also tend to be covered, for example:
- Check-ups and x-rays (generally limited to two a year).
- Hygiene appointments that involve scaling and polishing.
- Lab fees and anaesthetic for treatments.
- Tooth extraction, dental fillings or crowns.
Dental insurance and cosmetic dentistry
Not all insurance providers cover the cost of cosmetic dentistry. However, in recent years, certain providers are levelling up and, at most, offering patients a discount on treatments like implants, veneers, whitening, etc. But it will depend on the type of plan you opt for.
Researching dental insurance plans will allow you to understand better what is available and at what cost. For example, certain rules might be in place that mean you have be a member for a certain amount of months before claiming back on treatment.
Alternative ways to pay – without insurance
If we’re not covered with your insurer, and you still wish to continue with us for your treatment, we do offer patients the chance to spread the cost over their treatment between 12 and 60 months – with the first 12 being 0% financed.
Finance is redeemable across many of our treatments, costing upwards of £250, which means patients can choose to spread the cost for many of our treatments from general to cosmetic dentistry.
