Your most essential veneer questions answered:

  1. How much do porcelain veneers cost? The price of veneers depend on the amount of work required to place them and how many veneers you want or need. A cost-effective procedure, in the long run, veneers prices begin from £1,000. Now available on 0% finance.
  2. Can I get veneers on the NHS? This cosmetic procedure is mostly used to enhance appearances, and it is because of this reason that veneers are not available through the NHS. It is only in rare cases, where they are a clinical need that they can be redeemable via this service. Read more.
  3. What do dentists think about veneers? As the treatment promotes many oral and aesthetic benefits, it is frequently recommended by dentists across the UK. However, be aware that only trustworthy dentists will prescribe veneers that use a minimally invasive application. Porcelain veneers are therefore the go-to choice as they are applied to the front of the tooth rather than the entire tooth.
  4. Are veneers permanent? Yes, they are. However, patients should be aware that their original tooth shape does not need to be altered for the procedure. But rather only a slight etching of the front surfaces’ enamel. This makes the treatment irreversible but allows it to offer long-lasting, durable benefits.
  5. How long do veneers last? With the appropriate care and maintenance, veneers can last longer than fifteen years.

veneers cover imperfections and crooked teeth

Are you the right candidate for veneers?

Do any of the below apply to you?

  • I have tainted, discoloured or yellowish teeth
  • Suffer from fluorosis
  • I have bite difficulties such as overbites, underbites
  • I have crooked and overcrowded teeth
  • I feel like too much gum is visible when I smile
  • My teeth have chips, cracks and breaks
  • I have gaps (diastema) between my teeth

If you can relate to any of the above then porcelain or composite veneers might be an ideal solution to instantly fix and repair your smile.

Comparing the difference: Types of veneers

Due to developments in modern dental technology, several brands and types of veneers have emerged.

  • Porcelain: The most robust and durable material. The only prep work required is a small scraping of enamel. Often only millimetres are displaced to make room for the porcelain shells. However, other porcelain brands are even less evasive as they require little to no prep work – ask your dentist about these.
  • Composite: A composite resin material is applied directly to the tooth – these veneers differ from porcelain. Applied instead in layers, the resin is sculpted on the tooth and require zero preparation.

What’s the veneer process like?

Conventional veneer applications may include the altering of your natural tooth shape. However, the latest and more superior versions of veneer applications use a wafer-thin shell bonded over the tooth’s front exterior.

The preparation only scrapes 0.2mm/0.5mm millimetres of enamel to make space for the veneer to sit – this stops it from appearing bulky. More.
