Typically, Invisalign treats overbites between 9 and 24 months and uses up to 50 trays. On average, most Invisalign Comprehensive treatments using around 30 aligners are finished within 12 months.
The severity of your overbite and/or the presence of other orthodontic problems will dictate how long treatment takes to fix and restore the harmony of your smile. Other factors, such as age and commitment, will also dictate how fast your treatment will progress.
It’s our experience that patients are not the best judges of their smiles. What you might consider severe might actually be moderate, so to know the exact time it will take to realign your overbite with Invisalign, book a consultation with an Invisalign-approved dentist. See provider levels.
Your initial consultation should take no more than 30 minutes. The process is quicker and easier because it uses digital impressions. These impressions take thousands of photos of your teeth, gums, and bite and build them into a 3D simulation. This simulation will carve a roadmap out in stages of how your teeth will realign during each aligner change.
One thing to understand about timelines during your consultation is that the more aligners, which are often changed every 1-3 weeks, the longer your treatment will be.
The modern version of Invisalign straightens overbites, crossbites, underbites and open bites, and clinical studies have found it effective in correcting class II malocclusions like overbites.
We should know, as we’ve treated hundreds of Invisalign overbite cases, making us Platinum Elite Providers. Invisalign is successful for overbite cases.
However, it might not suit every patient, so a prior consultation is important. In severe overbite cases, patients might require alternative, traditional treatments like fixed metal braces and oral surgery.
