Dental Implant Retained Dentures

The Gentle Dental Practice, East Molesey, Surrey

Do you currently wear dentures that are a constant embarrassment?

Perhaps they move easily when eating so much so that eating out is no longer a pleasure? Do your dentures feel uncomfortable because they always seem to rub, causing sore spots and ulcers within the lining of your mouth?

For many this is a sad reality. However, there is a simple solution that can get you eating, chewing and smiling again very soon.

Dentures that are loose and unstable can be held into place by precision attachments – a bit like a “press stud”. These attachments are on dental implants placed in your jaw bone. They are the same dental implants we use when restoring with a crown, sometimes slightly smaller, but instead of restoring with a crown we restore with an attachment. This attachment is then located into the denture and the denture “clicks” into place.

This really is one of the best solution for patients who have been struggling with removable dentures yet perhaps don’t have a lot of bone support and so need a denture to allow the cheeks to be filled out too.

We have the facility to place implants with intravenous sedation for those patients who are concerned that they may be anxious during the treatment, this can be especially useful when fitting multiple implants to support a fixed denture as the treatment may take longer to complete due to the complexity of the procedure.

Dental Implant Retained Dentures

In normal circumstances we place 2 or 4 dental implants to retain a full denture. This is usually for a lower denture as these are often the most troublesome however it can be used for an upper denture as well.

With a treatment time of a few months from start to finish you could soon be enjoying your food again!
